Here are a couple of verses that came to mind earlier today and it just stuck out.Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. James 5 : 17,18 King James Version
It mentions Elijah (here called Elias) and how he was just like us and went through the same things we go through. He "was a man subject to like passions as we are...". That stuck out in my mind. To me it says that Elijah, this great prophet and man of God was just like us and was susceptible to the things that we are susceptible to. Yet the Bible says that he prayed earnestly for three and a half months that it would not rain, and it did not. Then he prayed again and it did rain. Except for the fact that he was a prophet, Elijah was just like us and he prayed and things happened. Big things... How often do we earnestly pray and believe that big things will happen? How often do we ask for something really big? I am not talking about things like asking for a big house or a fancy expensive car. I am talking about things like asking God to work through us to reach people. A lot of people. I am talking about asking God to bring revival in our church. I am talking about giving us unity and primitive Godliness. Things like that. Elijah was a man just like us. What if we prayed like that, with that earnestness? Do not think you have earnestness like Elijah? Ask God for it. He will give it to you. Just have faith. "And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit."
Just something to think about... Any thoughts?
